Description : Sandro De Silvestri is Emeritus Professor at the Department of Physics, Politecnico di Milano. His research activity was based on generation of few-optical cycle light pulses for applications in ultrafast spectroscopy and pulse compression techniques of high-energy femtosecond pulses leading to the generation of single attosecond pulses. He has been director of the european facility CUSBO, belonging to Laserlab-Europe, and he is presently delegate of the Italian Minister of University and Research in the General Assembly of the ESFRI landmark ELI ERIC. He is fellow of the Optical Society of America and of the European Physical Society. He is the recipient of the 2020 “Enrico Fermi” prize of Italian Physical Society.
