Italy launches its National Strategy for Quantum Technologies

The final document of the Italian Strategy for Quantum Technologies, developed by a group of experts and institutions, has been online since September 5, 2025. The final version was officially adopted by the Interministerial Committee for the Digital Transition (CITD) last July. The document is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Defense, the Department for Digital Transformation (DTD) of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and the National Agency for Cybersecurity (ACN), coordinated by Professor Tommaso Calarco, Professor of Physics at the University of Bologna. The committee also includes Paolo De Natale, coordinator of the I-PHOQS network. The Strategy marks a crucial milestone in strengthening Italy’s competitiveness in the most innovative sectors, with concrete implications for health, employment, safety, and economic development.
